PLDT and TV5 Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan puts an end to long speculations about the merger of the Kapuso and Kapatid networks. November this year will be something everyone should watch out for as the merger between GMA-7 and TV5 will be formally launched as confirmed by MVP himself during the presscon for the Sanfo launch of TV5 in Northern California on Saturday, June 2.
In his statement, MVP said that the partnership between TV5 and Dish Network - the leading provider of satellite television in the US - was formally signed, called Dish Ko 'To, promoting the combined channels of GMA Pinoy TV and Kapatid TV5.
In his text message sent to Arnell Ignacio, MVP clarified previous reports about him dropping a hint about GMA-7 and TV5 merger. To quote: "You know Arnel, all I said was - please support TV5 here in the States. And, by the way, please support GMA 7 too (since Dish carries GMA). That was all. No mention of merger, investment combination. Certainly no mention of a November deadline, or any deadline at all. Sure, some people speculated and all I said was I can now say we, re under discussion but nothing finalized at this time."
