The Great Escape to Bohol 2012

October 24, 2012. We left Manila via AirPhil past three in the afternoon and we arrived at Tagbilaran Airport in Bohol past four. Good thing our flight was not cancelled despite the bad weather. Fact is, PAG-ASA declared that Bohol was signal number one even before we arrived there.

Bohol is a first class island province of the Philippines located in the Central Visayas region, consisting of Bohol Island and 75 minor surrounding islands. It is the home province of Carlos P. Garcia, the eighth president of the Republic of the Philippines (1957–1961) who was born in Talibon, Bohol. Here are some of the photos taken before, during and after our Bohol escapade!

Yours truly at the Tarsier Conservation Area at Loboc, Bohol. Bohol is home of the world's second smallest primate also known as tarsier.

The Chocolate Hills! The Chocolate Hills is an unusual geological formation in Bohol Province, Philippines. There are at least 1,260 hills but there may be as many as 1,776 hills spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometres (20 sq mi). They are covered in green grass that turns brown (like chocolate) during the dry season, hence the name.

At Baclayon Church. Founded in 1727, Baclayon Church in Bohol is one of the oldest churches in the region.

The tarsier! The Philippine tarsier, (Tarsius syrichta) is very peculiar small animal. In fact it is one of the smallest known primates, no larger than a adult men's hand. Mostly active at night, it lives on a diet of insects.

At the entrance of Hinagdanan Cave in Bohol! Hinagdanan Cave is a cave on Panglao Island, in Bohol Province, in the Philippines. It is a naturally lighted cavern with a deep lagoon and many large stalactites and stalagmites.
